Professor Mohanad AlFiras: “Female President for a Day” Offers a Valuable Opportunity to Boost Confident and Leadership Skills, in Celebration of Bahraini Women Day.
In celebration of Bahraini Women’s Day, Gulf University launched a groundbreaking initiative titled “Female President for a Day,” aimed at empowering women and fostering leadership skills among its female students. Seventeen students were nominated for this unique program, undergoing specialized training in areas such as leadership etiquette, public protocol, ethical use of artificial intelligence, and time management.
The candidates were meticulously selected by a distinguished panel of judges comprising academic experts: Mrs. Ebtehaj Abdullah Khalifa, Mrs. Saba Najeeb Al Mahmoud, Mrs. Mahfooda Khalid Al-Ani, and Mrs. Bara Al-Samarai. The panel evaluated the nominees based on rigorous criteria, including leadership potential, decision-making skills, and readiness to take on the role of University President for a day.
Commenting on the initiative, Gulf University President, Prof. Mohanad Al-Firas, stated, “This initiative reflects Gulf University’s commitment to empowering women in leadership and preparing them for influential roles in the future. We are proud of this group of ambitious students and remain dedicated to fostering an inclusive educational environment that supports innovation and excellence.”
HR Specialist at the Southern Governorate Municipality, Ms. Saba Najeeb Al Mahmood stated that the “Female President for a Day” initiative reflects Gulf University’s vision of empowering Bahraini women and enhancing their leadership skills to take responsibility and drive change.
In a related context, Happiness and Quality of Life Consultant, Ms. Ibtihaj Abdullah Khalifa, emphasized that the “Female President for a Day” initiative is an inspiring and significant step towards empowering young women and fostering their leadership abilities. She noted that such initiatives are essential as they provide students with real opportunities to apply their knowledge and skills in a practical environment.
This initiative aligns with Bahrain Vision 2030, which prioritizes empowering women and promoting equality as essential elements for achieving sustainable development and building a fair and prosperous society. Gulf University supports this vision by strengthening women’s roles in academic and professional communities, preparing them to be active contributors in various developmental fields.
Law student Maryam Yousif and Gulf University’s elected female President for a day said, “I am excited about this experience as I will assume my duties as president for a day and I will do my best to leave a lasting impression to be remembered throughout the history of my university.”
Through this initiative, Gulf University reaffirms its ongoing support for Bahraini women and its commitment to the principles of empowerment and equality, which are fundamental pillars of Bahrain’s future vision.
