Gulf University President, Professor Mohanad Al-Firas, participated in the honoring ceremony for Arab universities listed in the 2024 Arab University Ranking. The event was held under the patronage of His Royal Highness Prince Turki bin Talal bin Abdulaziz, Prince of the Asir Region and Chairman of the Regional Development Authority. The event was organized by King Khalid University in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and was attended by representatives from the Arab Universities Union and various academic institutions.
The conference aimed to explore the role of Arab universities in advancing sustainable development, through scientific and interactive sessions with experts, academics, and decision-makers from various countries. The forum also covered strategic topics, including the creation of mechanisms to integrate sustainable development into higher education systems.
During the ceremony, Professor Mohanad Al-Firas emphasized that the inclusion of Gulf University in the ranking is a testament to its ongoing commitment to academic and research excellence. He noted that this recognition reflects the continuous progress of the university and strengthens its position among prestigious educational institutions in the Arab world.
He further stated, “This award is a recognition of Gulf University’s efforts in promoting advanced educational environment, focused on meeting future demands while staying aligned with global developments in higher education. “Through its academic partnerships and distinguished programs, Gulf University is committed to enhancing its reputation as a premier educational institution in the region. The university remains dedicated to advancing its research and educational strategies in alignment with Bahrain’s Vision 2030, which aims to strengthen community and developmental partnerships. These efforts contribute to the university’s ability to graduate highly skilled professionals capable of competing in both regional and international job markets, thereby supporting sustainable development and addressing the needs of the modern knowledge economy.
It is worth mentioning that Gulf University holds global quality accreditation from the UK’s Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education (QAA), in addition to institutional accreditation and accreditation for all its programs from the Education and Training Quality Assurance Authority. The university has also earned “IET Associate Membership” from the British Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET), and membership in the Association of Schools of Journalism and Mass Communication (ASJMC). Furthermore, the university’s media program has received professional international accreditation from the Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR), making it the second academic program outside the UK to achieve this recognition. Additionally, the Gulf University has gained membership in the American Association of Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) and accreditation from the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA).
