Diabetes Day in Gulf University

Sports Marathon in Collaboration with Local Health Institutions as Part of the University’s Efforts to Achieve Sustainable Development Goals

Gulf University hosts a comprehensive event marking World Diabetes Day, organized by the Community Service and Continuing Education Center, in collaboration with several leading health organizations in the Kingdom, including Bahrain Diabetes Society, Bahrain Red Crescent, Al-Salam Hospital, Dr. Nutrition Company, API Healthy Eating, Dr. Abdul Fattah Medical Clinic, and Merck Healthcare.

The event featured a sports marathon, awareness sessions on diabetes and its prevention, as well as free medical check-ups for attendees, these efforts reflect the university’s commitment to promote health awareness in the community. This initiative aligns with Sustainable Development Goal 3, which focuses on good health and well-being.

Vice President of the Bahrain Diabetes Society, Dr. Mariam Ibrahim Al-Hajri, took part in the event delivering a lecture titled “Diabetes and Quality of Life,” appreciating Gulf University and its partners for their efforts in spreading awareness and enhancing community health.

In a statement made by Gulf University President, Dr. Mohanad Al-Mashhadani, highlighting the university’s leadership in achieving Sustainable Development Goals, emphasizing the importance of community partnerships and awareness campaigns in promoting public health.

Head of the Community Service and Continuing Education Center, Dr. Marwan Melhem, stressed the importance of social activities in raising public awareness about health issues. He affirmed that the university is committed to continuing its community initiatives aimed to increase health awareness in Bahrain, praising the active role of participant institutions in supporting these efforts.

Gulf University’s dedication to sustainability goals and community service through its various programs and initiatives as case in example, the university organized “Sustainability Week,” which included a series of events, lectures, and workshops focused on raising awareness of sustainability across different sectors; reaffirming its commitment in playing a pioneering role in community development and delivering initiatives that benefit individuals, in line with Bahrain’s Vision 2030 and the Sustainable Development Goals.
