Gulf University Launches its first International Congress on Innovation & Advanced Technology 2024

Al-Sheikhly: International Collaboration is Key to Achieving Sustainable Scientific and Technological Progress
Gulf University is preparing to launch its first edition of the International Congress on Innovation & Advanced Technology (ICIAT – 2024) from 30-31 October, 2024. Professor Mona bint Rashid Al-Zayani, Chair of the Board of Trustees and Chairperson of the Board of Directors, stated that this event reflects the university’s commitment of the advancement of intellectual research and technology development to encompass the university’s priorities in regards to digital transformation and innovation; the Congress will be a turning point in advanced technology and innovation in the region, contributing to a brighter future for generations to come.
Professor Mona Al-Zayani highlighted that the event reflects Gulf University’s commitment to promoting scientific research and technological development, stressing the importance of digital transformation and innovation; stating “We are proud to provide a platform for scientists and professionals to exchange ideas that contribute to social development. We aspire for the Congress to be a catalyst for innovation and global collaboration in advanced technology.”
The Congress aims to support innovation and knowledge exchange in advanced technology fields, bringing together a distinguished group of experts, academias, and decision-makers from around the world.
Gulf University President, Professor Mohannad Al-Mashhadani, expressed his enthusiasm about the Congress, stating, “We are excited to launch the International Congress on Innovation & Advanced Technology, we look forward to this event becoming an international platform for exchanging innovative ideas and technological solutions which promote digital transformation and sustainable development.” He also noted that the university seeks to strengthen collaboration between universities, research institutions, and technology companies to build a better future based on innovation and knowledge.
Dr. Mohammed Al-Sheikhly, Chair of the University’s Scientific Research Council, emphasized that the Congress presents a unique opportunity to exchange expertise and knowledge in the fields of innovation and technology. Al-Sheikhly added, “We believe that international collaboration is the key to achieving sustainable, scientific and technological progress. Through this event, we aim to enhance academic and research collaborations between institutions worldwide.”
Al-Sheikhly also mentioned that the Congress will include a diverse range of conferences covering multiple fields such as, science, engineering, digital media, artificial intelligence, digital law, and sustainable innovation. Furthermore, Al-Sheikhly pointed out that the Congress will particularly focus on integration of technological innovations with environmental initiatives to achieve sustainable development goals, in line with Bahrain’s Vision 2030, which aims to balance economic growth with environmental protection.
Al-Sheikhly also emphasized Gulf University’s commitment in playing a leading role in this area by promoting scientific research and technological solutions that support sustainable development. This accentuates the university’s role as an incubator for innovation and sustainable scientific research that serves the community and drives progress.
Consequently, Gulf University recently received global quality accreditation from the UK’s Quality Assurance Agency (QAA) for Higher Education, reflecting the university’s commitment to educational sustainability and the development of its academic programs in line with Bahrain Vision 2030.
On a related note, the university launched the Digital Marketing and Advertising program this year in collaboration with the University of Northampton (UK), offering a UK-accredited degree in this specialization. Gulf University also offers other academic programs in partnership with the University of Northampton, including Bachelor’s degrees in Electrical and Electronic Engineering and Mechanical Engineering.
