Quality Assurance Unit
The unit works closely with the university colleges, committees, and supportive units to conduct regular quality assurance reviews to ensure the adherence with the university policies and procedures. Accordingly, the unit is responsible for preparing and communicating quality audit reports with university management and audited units and provide recommendations for enhancements.
The unit is responsible for assisting GU in developing strategic plan and in monitoring progress against University KPIs. The unit solicits data from a wide range of internal and external sources and benchmark best practices in higher education to support university colleges and supportive units in the development of their operational plans in accordance with GU strategic plan. The unit also prepares annual report, covering the achievements and areas of concerns of GU Strategic Plan.
The main objective of this unit is to develop and train GU Academic and Administrative staff. Based on assessing the needs for trainings and areas of enhancement, the unit plans and leads the staff professional development activities to improve staff competences and skills. Such professional trainings shall support the university to achieve effective utilization of its human resource, which shall be reflected on the quality of educational and research activities, as well as administrative performance. The unit manages orientation sessions for new employees and arrange for internal and external training for GU staff.
This unit develops and implements appropriate and effective tracking mechanisms and tolls to measure the performance of the staff and university units. It works closely with the above mentioned units and the university management to provide accurate and up-to-date data and analysis that defines the actual performance against the planed and targeted standards followed by performing extensive analysis and reporting in order to facilitate the University with an evidence-driven strategic decisions and best day to day operations.
The University Quality Assurance Committee (U-QAC) has the responsibility to support the achievement of the university strategic goal towards ensuring quality and continuous development. The committee has essential responsibility to ensure the quality of delivering the academic programmes in terms of adherence of colleges, departments and committees to the university policies and procedures. These include but not limited to the quality of teaching, learning, assessment that are appropriate to the programme and courses types and levels. The University Quality Assurance Committee is also responsible for monitoring the continuous development of the university and college academic and administrative activities. Within this context, the committee provide recommendations to the university council and university senior management on required decisions and actions that are relevant to quality assurance and improvement. The committee promotes the quality assurance culture and support the university and colleges leaderships in its adherence and application of internal and external quality standards. The chair of the committee is the Director of Quality Assurance and Development and the members are representatives of Colleges Quality Assurance Committees, admin units and staff of the Quality Assurance and Development Center. The University Quality Assurance Committee meets at least twice every regular semester and the committee chair calls for add-hock meeting whenever it is needed.
The College Quality Assurance Committee (C-QAC) provides assistance and support to achieve the university strategic goal of ensuring quality frameworks and improve the academic and administrative activities at the college level (SM 4.3.6). The college committee oversees and monitors the proper implementation of the university policies and procedures and advises the college and departments leaderships and staff on quality enhancements plans and actions. The committee coordinates with the QADC to conduct quality audit cycle and ensures that the required documents and evidences are will prepared and available for the audit cycles. The College Quality Assurance Committee is chaired by one of the college full time staff and meets at least twice every regular semester.
