Reflecting its commitment to promoting consumer rights and protection, a group of law students from Gulf University participated in the First Arab Consumer Protection Forum, held in Manama. This event, initiated by the Ministry of Industry and Commerce, was organized by the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA), in collaboration with the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) and the Consumer Protection Directorate of Bahrain’s Ministry of Industry and Commerce.
With the attendance of Bahrain’s Deputy Prime Minister, Sheikh Khalid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, the forum covered several key topics focused on the challenges and opportunities related to adapting legal frameworks to address emerging issues and ensure robust consumer protection in an ever-changing market. Discussions also highlighted the role of authorities in facilitating consumer access to justice and the importance of providing effective and accessible complaint resolution mechanisms, aiming to boost consumer confidence and safeguard their rights.
This participation provided Gulf University law students with a unique opportunity to exchange knowledge and learn about best international practices in consumer protection, enhancing their practical skills and deepening their understanding of current and future legal challenges in this vital area.
