Mission
Developing the students’ linguistic skills, improving their research and analytical thinking abilities, and enabling them to become independent learners and active participants in the society.
Vision
The English Language Development Center’s (ELDC) vision is to prepare under graduate and graduate students to perform effectively within English-medium context at the Gulf University (GU) and elsewhere. The ELDC aspires to prepare students of various backgrounds with competencies that promote self-confidence and subsequent success in their academic courses and eventually in their future careers to be active participants in the society.
The ELDC achieves its goals through a cooperative team of highly dedicated, professional faculty who develop students’ linguistic and critical thinking skills by fostering active student participation, collaborative and independent learning, and commitment to academic integrity. In medium-size, learner-centered classes, using communicative methods, up-to-date authentic materials and utilizing modern technology, ELDC students are empowered to face the academic challenges and become lifelong learners.
Objectives
To prepare Learners communicatively and academically to reach university level study, the ELDC aims at:
