Introduction:
It is well known that the main tasks of the universities are education and scientific research, where the ideas and scientific knowledge are transmitted to successive generations through education. In addition to this aspect and for the purpose of development, came the second task of conducting scientific studies and research in various fields of science. For more than two decade the importance of the third task was emerged for universities action which is the community service through diagnosing problems and offering solutions and this completes the role of the university as a center of civilization, and cultural, and intellectual in society. Thus the Arab and other international universities supervise many research centers and production and service that set up to serve the community in various sectors. In general the universities, including the
- Increasing competition locally and regionally in the area of university education .
- Growing demand for higher education in undergraduate and postgraduate in all disciplines .
- The adoption of the philosophy of quality of higher education by most of the countries.
- The rapid progress in communications technology and informatics in the field of education such as distance education and e-learning.
- Changing of the size and composition of the labor market , with a consequent change in the specifications of the graduates.
- Need of the academic community and the business community to serve the research and academic objectives at the same time contribute to a development of companies and institutions.

Goals:
- Creating and supporting links between scientific research and society and the business sector through research activities, service and productivity offered by the University.
- Preparation of plans and programs that work to activate the role of the university to participate in the study and put forward society's problems and find solutions and to provide appropriate and effective contribution to issues development and development in the Kingdom.
- Preparation and organization of conferences and scientific symposia, lectures and training courses aimed at serve and development the community and the environment.
- Employment of scientific research and applied research to serve the community and support the development and progress.
- Provide expertise and consultancy in all fields available in the university institutions to government agencies and non-governmental and civil society institutions.
- Development and develop the capacity of workers in the various bodies and government institutions and non-governmental sectors in the various fields through continuing education programs and rehabilitation programs to enable them to deploy the expertise and the gained knowledge for the development of their institutions and their community.
- Working to create a university environment and to refine the educational and personal development of integrated students through programs and activities that seek to introduce students to the outside community to activate the role of the university in the service of society and the environment development.
- Keep up with the ever-changing labor market needs and requirements of development and rapid progress in information technology and communications programs through continuous improvement of the quality of the educational process in order to reach levels that achieve excellence in the competitive graduates in the local labor market and in the Gulf and Arab world.
